Resort communities are not all as special as our Eagle River Community. It has been overwhelming to join in their giving this Christmas season to our food pantry. We have received more food and more money donations than ever before. what an example of a community taking care of its own! many of you have given from your own businesses to others. Thank you for pizzas from Butch! thank you for coffee from Dan and Susan! thank you for fruit from Paul and Jean! Thank you for high school kids giving money and food from the Halo (video game) for the Hungry tournament! Thank you for the many organizations that gave to us instead of buying for each other! This is an example of how people are suppose to care for each other. I am privileged to live in the Eagle River Community and work with all of you!! God bless Eagle River! Hotels are busy and our resort is quiet and surrounded with forest! The snow is perfect to take your skis and ski from your back door onto Anvil Lake. The snowmobile tracks make perfect paths to follow around the entire lake. I enjoy going out at sunset and watching the sun set to the west as the moon rises to the east. If you are not into skiing the snowmobile trails are just across the lake so off you can go to ride through the Nicolet Forest. another option is ice fishing for those northern and walleye.

Eagle River, WI An amazing community

Way to go Eagle River! This last Christmas we started a new program called Northwoods Share which provided new toys for parents in financial need to give their children. Our Eagle River community gave amazing response as they donated gifts and money to fill the wish lists of parents for their children. We believe the core of this program is to encourage desperate families during the Christmas season and use toys as a way to help. We also feel it important to help parents' identity by letting them shop for and choose gifts to give their children. This last December we were able to help 125 parents and 250 children. When we found ourselves short on gifts we sent out word through the radio and newspaper and people responded! thank you Eagle River! I am proud to live here with each of you!

Cross Country Trails in Vilas Conty & chick-a-dees eating out of our hands

Zauggs Resort provides a great place to stay and go feed the birds on the Anvil Trails. Snow was great, temps perfect, trails perfectly groomed and the birds were hungry! We skiied the west trail from the Anvil Rt 70 trailhead into the warming hut area where we took off our skiis, got out the sunflower seed, and fed the chick-a-dees! Birds came to eat gripping their little feet onto our fingers! Special times at the Anvil Trails!

Trails are amazing! our groomers have kept all bumps and valleys level and one can really enjoy these trails. We snowmobiled east of Eagle River through the Nicolet Forest. Brule River tap is a great spot for burgers and a nice loop from Eagle River to 3 Lakes.

Snowmobiling Eagle River & Three Lakes trails

Amazing trails and amazing beauty as we rode along the snowmmobile trails from Anvil Lake to Alvin east of Eagle River. The flocked trees and the beautiful sunset combined to enhance these well groomed trails and a very enjoyable snowmobile ride. Temperatures started out in the low teens and ended in single digits so we were only out for a couple hours but timed it perfectly to watch the sunset upon our return. As the sunbeams hit the clouds pinks and reds filled the sky and we had to stop and just reflect. Living at Zauggs Resort is a priviledge and we must take time to enjoy thesse winter wonders!

Snowy Day

Today was a Snowy day on Anvil Lake. Paths from skiing and snowmobiling were lightly filled with snow so that outdoor play had a soft new feel with snow falling on my face. Temps were in the high teens and winds were mild. Our horses were happy to go inside to eat and let their snow soaked backs dry out overnight. There was no dramatic sunset but the icicle lights sparkle with the new snow falling. Sweet dreams!

Sunsets on Anvil Lake in the winter are amazing! Because the resort faces east it is difficult to see sunsets. However when the lake is frozen it is an amazing opportunity to see both the sun rise and set from the lake. Buddy and Badger and I have made it a habit to ski at sunset and watch the sky change colors. At 3:30 we ski off from our backyard to the north and try to time it right to turn around and head back facing the setting sun. Tonight we saw whisps of pink and red as the clouds filtered the sunset. The snow was perfect to ski on and the temps were in the teens. A couple ice fishermen were on the lake catching northern and walleye.

Happy New Year

happy new year and enjoy our winter wonderland! we started out the year with a cross country skii outing to the Anvil Trails just across the lake from the resort. The chick-a-dees come and eat birdseed out of your hand as you stop to take a break at the warm=up shelter. What an amazing feeling as these little feet grip on to you as they eat their snack! The skiing was fantastic for the trails were perfectly groomed. Back to the resort and a nice fire in the fireplace to relax and enjoy a movie together1

Winter wonderland

The view of Anvil Lake is amazing as the sun reflects off the snow. Last night the sunset brought pink reflections across the lake and the wind forced me to face down as I skiied across the lake! Chuck and I skiied the Anvil Trails Cross Country New Year's Eve and they were FANTASTIC! We fed the chick-a-dees and enjoyed the great grooming of the trails as we wound in and out of the trees.
